Dr. Julie Colton, LAc, DACM, BA in Cellular Biology, NCCAOM Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology

Julie has always been drawn to understanding how the body works—both its science and its subtlety. After earning her degree in Cellular Biology and Fine Mathematics, she initially planned to pursue Western medicine. Life, however, had a different timeline. When her daughter was diagnosed on the autism spectrum, the path she’d imagined paused, allowing a new direction to unfold.

Supporting her daughter through physical, occupational, and speech therapies opened Julie’s eyes to healing that extends beyond the physical. This led her to explore practices that blend the mental, emotional, and spiritual—Yoga, Reiki, Music, Pilates, and Fitness. As an experienced Yin Yoga practitioner trained by influential teachers such as Paul and Suzie Grilley, Biff Mithoefer, and Bernie Clark, she became increasingly curious about the medicine behind these traditions. Since Yin Yoga works with the meridian system, Traditional Chinese Medicine
felt like a natural next step.

Julie was captivated by TCM’s holistic view of health and its seamless integration of mind, body, and spirit. She is especially inspired by how ancient wisdom and modern science continue to meet, evolve, and support one another. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science, a program grounded in both Eastern and Western medical understanding.

When she’s not practicing or studying TCM, Julie enjoys slow afternoons at the bookstore with her daughter—an avid reader—and taking long hikes with her dog. She also loves figure skating, so there’s a good chance you’ll spot her gliding around a local roller rink.
