Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT)

A Different Approach to Allergies

If you've spent years avoiding foods, living on antihistamines, checking every ingredient label, or worrying about accidental exposure, you know how exhausting allergies can become.

Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT) is a specialized form of auricular (ear) acupuncture designed to help calm an inappropriate immune response to specific allergens. Rather than simply masking symptoms, SAAT aims to reduce the body's overreaction to the substances that trigger them.

While no treatment can guarantee results, many patients experience meaningful improvement—and for some conditions, the published research is very encouraging.

What Can SAAT Be Used For?

SAAT has been used for a wide variety of immune-mediated sensitivities, including:

  • Seasonal allergies

  • Environmental allergies

    • Pollens

    • Mold

    • Dust mites

    • Animal dander

  • Food allergies and food sensitivities

  • Chemical sensitivities

  • Medication sensitivities

  • Histamine intolerance

  • Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)

  • Certain immune-mediated or autoimmune-related conditions (when clinically appropriate)

  • Alpha-gal syndrome

Not every condition is appropriate for SAAT, and every patient receives an individualized evaluation before treatment.

What Is SAAT?

SAAT (Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment) is a specialized ear acupuncture technique developed by Dr. Nader Soliman.

During treatment, tiny sterile acupuncture needles are placed into precise locations on the outer ear that correspond to the immune response being addressed.

Unlike traditional acupuncture needles that are removed after treatment, these very small intradermal needles remain in place for approximately 3–4 weeks, protected by a small adhesive dressing.

The treatment is generally very comfortable. Most patients quickly forget the needles are there during daily life.

The goal is to give the nervous system and immune system continuous stimulation over several weeks, allowing the body's response to the targeted allergen to change over time.

What About MCAS and Autoimmune Conditions?

Some practitioners trained in SAAT also use the technique to address histamine dysfunction, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and certain autoimmune-related immune responses.

Depending on the condition being treated, Dr. Soliman's protocol may also include a customized homeopathic spray used during the treatment period to support immune regulation.

Because autoimmune diseases are complex, results vary significantly between individuals, and SAAT should be viewed as one component of a comprehensive treatment plan—not a replacement for ongoing medical care.

Alpha-gal Syndrome

Among all conditions treated with SAAT, Alpha-gal Syndrome has some of the strongest published evidence.

A 2021 peer-reviewed case series followed 137 patients with Alpha-gal Syndrome treated using SAAT.

Among the 126 patients with available follow-up data: 96% reported their symptoms were in remission after treatment.

The authors also reported that no adverse reactions to the acupuncture procedure itself were observed. They concluded that SAAT is a promising, low-risk treatment that deserves further prospective research while noting that additional controlled studies are still needed.

What to Expect

Initial Evaluation (included in 1st treatment)

  • We'll review known and suspected allergies

  • Screen for allergens and discuss what order things might need to be treated

  • Discuss homeopathic remedies that might be needed if there is an autoimmune component to the issues

  • Whether SAAT is an appropriate option and expectations

Treatment

Based on your evaluation, one or more tiny intradermal needles are placed in the ear.

Depending on what you test positive for, we may be able to treat 1–3 related allergens or sensitivities during a single session.

The needles remain in place for approximately 3–4 weeks before being removed.

Auto immune issues usually will require a homeopathic spray remedy to be used in conjunction with the SAAT technique.

Pricing

SAAT treatments are not covered by health insurance.

Treatment Fee: $150 per session

Each session may address 1–3 related allergens or sensitivities, depending on your evaluation and testing results.

Some patients achieve their goals in a single treatment cycle, while others require additional sessions.

Homeopathic remedies are extra.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SAAT replace my allergy medications?

No.

Continue taking medications prescribed by your physician unless they advise otherwise.

Can I immediately eat foods I'm allergic to?

No.

We provide individualized guidance after treatment. In general you should try avoiding the substance as much as possible during the treatment and then slowly reintroduce the item.

Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis should continue strict allergen avoidance, carry emergency medications (such as epinephrine when prescribed), and follow their allergist's recommendations unless specifically cleared by their physician.

Is one treatment enough?

Sometimes.

Many patients require only one treatment cycle for a particular allergen, while others benefit from additional treatments depending on their condition and response.

Are results guaranteed?

No.

Every person's immune system is different.

Although many patients experience substantial improvement—and published research for Alpha-gal Syndrome has shown highly encouraging results—no medical treatment can guarantee success.

Our goal is always to help your body move toward a healthier, less reactive immune response while setting realistic expectations.
