What We Do: Acupuncture & The Four Pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine

At Eastgate Acupuncture we practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  Chinese Medicine is over 2000 years old, and in that time there have been myriad developments, reorganizations, and  re-understandings of it. TCM represents the most modern organization and understanding of Chinese Medicine and derives benefit from the  scientific and academic research power of modern universities across the globe.

Within Traditional Chinese Medicine there are four primary avenues of treatment which are  poetically referred to as the “Four Pillars”. Each of the pillars offers a unique approach to affecting health and can be thought of as a different type of leverage to be obtained on a patient's system in order to induce change.

The Four Pillars are:

Acupuncture and Moxibustion

Herbs and Nutrition

Physical Manipulation

Qi Gong
